Testing, Testing! - Skoda's Group N Rally Car Takes On Longcross
Published: 14th May 2003
Crewed by Auto Express journalists Ollie Marriage and Mike Askew, this is the second outing for the Jondel Motorsport-run Fabia this season and the team is fresh from its recent fourth in class on the first event, the Rally of Kent, at the beginning of March.
Organised by the Reading-based Craven Motor Club, the Brook Motor Sport Stages Rally consists of 66 miles of timed-to-the-second tarmac special stages and also uses the venue’s 1-in-3 test hill, prompting driver Ollie to comment, "I hope we shan’t need parachutes!"
The Group N Škoda Fabia contested the 2002 Kumho National
Rally Championship in the hands of Iain Freestone and Nick Kennedy.
It proved to be so dominant that, with two rounds of the series
still to run, the Fabia had already put itself in an unassailable
position for a Championship class win.
