At the finish of the event at Detling Showground, near Maidstone, the team, supported for this event by Dutton Forshaw Škoda were thrilled. A delighted Ollie commented, "I’m really chuffed – the car didn’t miss a beat and, although I know I’ve got a lot to learn, we were less than two minutes behind the class winners by the end of the day!"
The Group N Fabia is the same car that took class honours in the 2002 Kumho National Rally Championship, following five consecutive victories which left the opposition trailing in its wake long before the season was over!
The regulations regarding modifications to Group N cars are very limited, majoring on safety, and leaving the Fabia very close to showroom specification. Fabia’s popularity continues to increase; the entry-level price of £6,995 for the 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder engine makes the great value of the model range even stronger.
The next scheduled outing for Ollie and Mike with the Škoda
Motorsport British Fabia Rally Team is the Nuneaton-based
Midland Stage Rally on 18 May. The team’s Group A Fabia,
also prepared by Jondel Motorsport in Northampton, will compete
in its next round of the Kumho Championship the Astra Stages
in North Wales, on 12 April.
