Safety and Security

The Skoda Superb Hatchback was tested by Euro NCAP; in 2009 and was awarded overall five-stars, the maximum rating. It scored 90% for adult occupant, 81% child occupant, 50% pedestrian and 71% safety assist; we are not sure how the estate/outdoor would perform but there is no reason to believe it would be any different if tested.  This compares to the Subaru Legacy also tested in 2009 – again a five score result, scoring 79% for adult occupant, 73% child occupant, 58% pedestrian and 71% safety assist.

The Skoda Superb Outdoor is equipped with seven airbags as standard (two optional), ABS (anti-lock brakes), EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution), tyre pressure monitor, Isofix child seats anchors and ESP (electronic-stability program).

Infotainment

Our test car was fitted with the standard ‘Bolero’ touchscreen stereo with integrated 6 CD changer with MP3 and SD card reader which was perfectly fine- you can add a plumbed in satellite navigation system as an option.

What We Liked
  • Vast boot space
  • Four wheel drive security
  • Part Alcantara Interior
  • Competent 4x4 Estate
  • What We Disliked
    • Cannot really go to far off road
    • Lack of Tech
    • Low Specifications
    Conclusion

We enjoyed our time with the Skoda Superb Outdoor – it is a competent vehicle and offers good value for money, although a 4x4 Superb Estate might be a wiser buy, as it only real loses the pseudo 4x4 styling protection. It would make the ideal tow car for a caravan or trailer and is a practical, family workhorse with a huge boot and a spacious cabin.
