SEAT UK has made changes to the line up and prices of its best-selling model and What Car? Best Supermini 2004, the Ibiza. The changes come in response to customer reaction to its recent campaign models and the increasing popularity of its diesel engines.
The range now starts with the Ibiza Reference priced at £8000. This new model has as standard electric front windows, radio CD, rev counter, digital clock, twin front airbags with passenger airbag deactivation, ABS with EBA, remote central locking and immobiliser. The £8000 price tag allows a choice of 1.2-litre 64PS or 1.4-litre 75PS petrol engine, and the Reference specification also provides a frugal 1.4-litre 75PS TDi engine priced at just £9200 – taking Ibiza diesel pricing under £10,000 for the first time.
The same 1.2 and 1.4 petrol engines are also available on the next model up, Ibiza S. The Ibiza S has the same impressive specification list as the Reference plus air conditioning, and the 1.4 litre version is available with automatic gearbox only. Prices are £8300 for the 1.2 and £9500 for the 1.4 Auto – a saving of £465 on the previous Auto price.
Ibiza SX specification was introduced earlier this year on 1.2 litre models, but has proved so popular SEAT has now added it across the engine range to replace the previous SE model. This model gets climate control, front fog lights, 15" alloy wheels added to its spec and is priced at £8800 for the 1.2 and 1.4, £10,000 for the 1.4 TDi and £10,900 for the more powerful 1.9 TDi 100PS.
Prices of the recently introduced powerful and sporty Ibiza FR models have also been cut and petrol and diesel now match each other pound for pound. Both the 1.8 20V T 150PS and 1.9 TDi 130PS versions now cost £12,950 on the road. It’s a similar story with the top of the range SEAT Sport-built Ibiza Cupra which was launched at the Motor Show Live in May. The 1.9 TDi 160PS version, available now, will cost £15,500, a reduction of £500, and matches the price of the 1.8 20V T 180PS version which will be available later in the year.
