The New SEAT Toledo

Published: 22nd July 2004
Bluetooth and MP3

One of the outstanding innovations of the new SEAT Toledo is Bluetooth technology, which allows a standardised wireless communication between two mobile devices. The main advantage is that it does not require a physical connection between the mobile telephone and the vehicle to provide a completely hands-free system.

The Bluetooth system is operated by multi-function buttons in the steering wheel. Calls can be accepted, disconnected and one of the most important features, voice recognition, accessed through these buttons. When using this feature, the driver can verbally place a call to a number or a name or save names and numbers in the phone book – all while keeping his or her hands on the wheel.

The audio system of the new Toledo is perfectly integrated into the central console of the dashboard and offers a slot at the top for standard or MP3 format CDs.

Four engines

The new Toledo will be available with four different engines, two petrol – 150 bhp (110 kW) 2.0 FSI and 102 bhp (75 kW) 1.6 – and two Diesel – 140 bhp (103 kW) 2.0 TDI and 105 bhp (77 kW) 1.9.

The two most powerful engines – the two-litre FSI and TDI – are combined with a six-speed manual gearbox. In addition, the FSI will be available with automatic and sequential Tiptronic 6-speed gearbox. The 2.0 TDI will have the option of the new DSG 6-speed gearbox.

The new Toledo also offers a high degree of safety. ABS, TCS and ESP systems are all included, along with emergency brake assistance (EBA). Electro-mechanical power steering and the SEAT developed Agile Chassis combined with a multi-link rear axle give the Toledo excellent stability and very dynamic driving characteristics.

As for passive safety, the Toledo leaves the factory equipped with six airbags as standard: driver and passenger airbags, and side and head airbags. It also includes three-point seatbelts for all five seats, with pyrotechnic pre-tensioners at the front and the Isofix system for securing child seats integrated in the back seats.

Manufactured in Martorell

The new Toledo is exclusively produced in the SEAT factory at Martorell where leading edge technology, such as laser welding for the body assembly, is implemented in manufacturing. Use of high-resistance, fully galvanised steel, modern production processes and strict on-line quality controls allow for a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty on the body.
