SEAT Altea Awarded Five Star Euro NCAP Rating

Published: 28th November 2004
Child protection: 4 stars

The results of the Euro NCAP crash tests also firmly establish the Altea amongst the models that offer the greatest protection for children. This, together with the Isofix child restraint systems and the ease with which they are anchored to the cars, means the Altea is one of the very best cars for child safety.

Pedestrian protection: 3 stars

The Euro NCAP pedestrian impact test replicates injuries caused to the human body: head, hip, leg, etc.

The meticulous frontal design of the Altea resulted in a score of 22 points from a possible 36, giving it a 3-star rating. This puts the Altea at the top of its category and makes it one of the cars that offer the highest protection to pedestrians.

It is worth noting that a design feature unique to SEAT, windscreen wipers that are housed upright and hidden behind the A pillars, considerably reduces the number of head injuries that pedestrians suffer in accidents.

The compact mono-spaces in Euro NCAP

Taking into account the number of stars obtained by different models in the three disciplines of the Euro NCAP tests, the Altea tops the compact mono-space ranking. It is the first model to combine 5 stars in occupant protection, 4 in children protection and 3 in pedestrian protection:
