However, you might be disappointed by the vital statistics; 0-62mph takes 11.8 seconds and the top speed is 108mph. That's for the SEAT Ibiza SC with the 1.4 engine under the bonnet. The other options are a 1.2 (70PS) for the 'S' only and the 1.6 (105PS) in the Sport. The 1.4 is also available in the SE as well as the Sport, where it produces 85PS at 5,000rpm and 132Nm of torque at 3,800rpm.
It doesn't sound much on paper, especially when 'Sport' is involved in the name, but it is a very good compromise between fun and fuel efficiency. Obviously, too much of one has an effect on the other but careful drivers can hope to get somewhere near the posted figures of 34.4-, 55.4- and 45.6 mpg for the urban, extra-urban and combined respectively, while CO2 emissions are an almost diesel-like 149g/km, putting it in VED Band C.
At the time of this review, these are the only three engines available; all petrol and all mated to a very nice, 5-speed manual gearbox. It is expected that more engine choices will be made available in the near future.
