SEAT Ibiza SC

SEAT's Design Director, Luc Donkerwolke is the man responsible and clearly enjoyed creating the muscular rear shoulders and the flared wheel-arches. It is a little different to his previous job of designing Lamborghinis but the longer wheelbase and wider track of the new SEAT Ibiza SC provided a larger canvas on which to create a more solid stance than the previous model.

These adjustments form part of the Agile Chassis concept, which allow for improvements to the suspension, steering, anti-roll bars and brakes. At the same time, providing more interior space, especially in the boot which now has a capacity of 284-litres.

Of the three trims, the base 'S' is the only one with a folding rear bench seat; the others have a split and fold function. It is a bit of an effort and when the seat backs are lowered, the seats do not form a flat load floor, but the extra space can be useful nonetheless.

There is ample room in the back for two adults or three children, and ISOFIX mountings are standard issue. Legroom for grown-ups is not too bad as long as you sit behind the shorter person, although it is made a little easier by the concave backs of the front seats. Getting in and out of the rear of the car is quite easy and the top two trim levels have Easy Entry passenger seats as does the driver. The driver's seat, at all levels, has height adjustment alongside a rake and reach adjustable steering column.
