SEAT Altea Review

The SEAT Altea went on sale in the UK on the 10th July 2004 and was the first SEAT model to be wholly developed within the Audi Brand Group.

The Altea Prototipo made its debut at 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show as a prototype and was named 'Best Concept Car 2003' by the Designers (Europe) organisation [ click here for more information ].

The Altea was created by Walter de'Silva who was responsible for such automotive works of art as the Alfa Romeo 147 and 156. Walter de'Silva describes the SEAT Altea as "a vehicle that combines the traits that characterise the image of all future SEAT products. It's not about evolution, but a revolution."

The 5-door Altea is available in four trim levels: Essence, Reference, Stylance and Sport and prices start at £12,450 for the 1.6 Essence model and rise through the eleven-model range to £17,900 for the 2.0 TDI DSG Sport. The engine line up includes 1.6 and 2.0-litre petrol engines and 1.9 and 2.0-litre diesel engines.

The Altea is the first in a new generation of cars from SEAT which they define as a MSV's (Multi Sports Vehicles). The Altea is based on the Volkswagen Golf platform and has been designed first and foremost as a family car built to satisfy the growing demand for added room and flexibility. Whilst the Altea fulfills some of the criteria of an MPV it also promises to combine them with driving pleasure and stunning exterior styling.
