Safety and Security
The SEAT Alhambra was tested by Euro NCAP in 2010 and was awarded five-stars overall, the maximum rating. It scored 96% for adult occupant, 80% child occupant, 46% pedestrian and 71% safety assist. Which not surprisingly is exactly the same result as the Alhambra’s sibling MPV the Volkswagen Sharan.
Our test car was fitted with the optional rear side airbags at a cost of £175 – which of course should not be an option but it is good to see that the Alhambra can be specified with them – a side curtain bag is standard.
Our test car was fitted with the £1,010 optional SEAT Media System (v3.2) with Rear View Camera which comprises Satellite Navigation with dynamic route guidance, DVD playback, 30GB hard drive, 6.5" colour touch-screen, DAB radio tuner and SD card slot. There is an aux-in and a 240V power outlet at the rear of the central front console.
- Chrysler Grand Voyager
- Ford Galaxy
- Ford S-Max
- Volkswagen Sharan
What We Liked
- Driving Dynamics
- Family Friendly
- Although optional, the integrated rear child seats
- Well packaged pretty much all you could want from an MPV
What We Disliked
- Cost of Extras – it soon adds up
- The cost of the optional £175 rear side airbags – should be standard.
We enjoyed our time with the SEAT Alhambra it is a great family car; the only real competition comes from the Ford Galaxy and S-Max, if you exclude the Sharan. The Alhambra is well appointed and very good to drive – it is all the MPV you could want and comes highly recommended.26 November 2014
