Less than twelve months after its retail sales launch, the new Saab 9-3 Convertible has already leapt to the top of the British premium soft-top sales chart, comfortably outselling all of its key German competitors in August.

For the first time in many years, Saab also outsold the other Swedish car company in the month, with a 91 per cent growth in sales over August 2003.

To date, Saab’s UK sales are up 33 per cent, continuing to make the Swedish brand the fastest-growing manufacturer in a declining premium new car market segment.

The new 9-3 Convertible is not the only Saab model currently enjoying success though. Demand for the 9-3 Sport Saloon and 9-5 ranges is also increasing, with a very healthy interest in the new Euro4 9-3 1.9TiD models.

Saab GB’s Managing Director Jonathan Nash says: "The iconic Saab Convertible was the UK’s best selling premium soft-top for six years, from 1996 to 2001. Based on the popularity of the car this summer, helped by the recent five star EuroNCAP and top Thatcham security ratings, Saab is on track to reclaim the number one premium convertible sales slot."
