Today (8th September 2004) the one thousandth Rolls-Royce Phantom will be built to customer order at the company’s new manufacturing plant in Goodwood, England.

To mark the occasion, 1,000 balloons will be released from the company’s central courtyard with Rolls-Royce employees looking on. One of the balloons could prove particularly lucky for its finder. Rolls-Royce will donate £1000 to the charity of his or her choice and they will receive a Spirit of Ecstasy mascot mounted on a special plinth.

Speaking today, Company Chairman and CEO, Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, said, "We are celebrating another landmark achievement in the history of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, an achievement made possible by the small but talented team of people working at Goodwood. This occasion helps mark the success of the renaissance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, since it became part of BMW Group."

The 1,000th Phantom is finished in black, with black leather interior and Elm Cluster wood veneer.
