Renault To Sponsor Ellen MacArthur

Ellen MacArthur commented: “Since the Vendée Globe
my life has changed completely. My time on land as well as on the
water is now spent travelling the globe either racing or doing promotional
work for our sponsors and official partners, so my car is very important
to me as I spend a lot of time on the road. We have a full-on race
schedule for the next three years, including the construction of
a new solo 75-foot trimaran built for the sole objective to try
and break solo speed sailing records.
Our race plan culminates in 2006 Route du Rhum trans-Atlantic
race, in which I set a winning record in 2002 racing the monohull
Kingfisher. I’ve already been using my new Espace for a couple
of weeks and it’s fantastic to have a flexible car which will
do just about anything I want. The design is just so smart –
the designers have really thought about how people use their cars
today and covered every angle. It’s quiet, refined, comfortable
and economical, yet I was amazed at the performance of the V6 diesel
engine. I am told this is a unique feature but it should be something
every MPV has! But that’s what I like about Renault, they
look at doing something different to the rest – an ethos we
share at Offshore Challenges and it’s awesome that they are
now official vehicle partner to the Offshore Challenges Sailing
Team.”
