The Renault Grand Scenic

Tailor-made MPVs
Competition for the Grand Scénic is limited with all other rival companies choosing either a compact five-seater or a slightly larger seven seat body style.
Instead of taking this compromise route, Renault can truly offer an MPV in one of five sizes so the customer can choose exactly how big a car they want.
Renault now offers the five seat Kangoo at 4.04 metres, the five seat Scénic at 4.26 metres, then the new seven seat Grand Scénic at 4.49 metres slotting in under the two originators of the MPV, the seven seat Espace at 4.66 metres and the Grand Espace at 4.86 metres.
Models like the VW Touran at 4.39 metres and the Vauxhall Zafira at 4.32 metres fit between the two Scénics but by trying to retain the compact exterior dimensions the customers like it becomes a tight fit for seven people.
In addition to choice, the New Grand Scénic offers better value than its two seven-seat rivals.
Comparing what is expected to be one of the best selling versions, the Grand Scénic Dynamique 1.6 16V to its direct Volkswagen and Vauxhall opponents - the Touran SE 1.6 FSi and the Zafira Design 1.6 16V respectively - the Grand Scénic is the clear winner on its combination of style, price and equipment levels.
At £16,113 on the road the Grand Scénic Dynamique 1.6 16V is £1,427 less expensive than the Volkswagen Touran SE 1.6Fsi while offering more standard equipment. To add equipment such as alloy wheels, automatic headlamps and front fog lamps, all of which are standard on the Scénic, will cost the Volkswagen buyer a further £770, while the new Volkswagen does not offer special features like an automatic parking brake or hands free ignition and locking. The VW does offer ESP as standard, a £750 option on the Scenic, which comes together with electronic tyre pressure monitoring.
The Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.6 16V is a similar price but has a lot less standard equipment that the Renault. Lateral and curtain airbags plus an alarm and alloy wheels will cost the Zafira customer another £1325 while other equipment available on the Renault such as automatic headlamps and wipers, automatic parking brake, electric rear windows, front fog lamps, leather steering wheel and hands free ignition and locking are not available.
