The 2003 Renault Kangoo Range

On sale in the UK since 1999 the Renault Kangoo offers a utilitarian
approach to family motoring reminiscent of the very popular
Renault 4. Conceived and developed as a fun vehicle which
stands out from the crowd, the Kangoo is so versatile that
it can carry five people and their holiday luggage or, with
rear seats folded, offer a larger maximum load volume than
either the Scénic or Laguna Sport Tourer.
Its airy interior, class-leading accessibility through sliding rear doors on both sides and very affordable price starting at under £9,000 make Kangoo an attractive proposition as an inexpensive first or second family car or for businesspeople who need the flexibility of a commercial vehicle during the week but seating for their family at the weekend. And for those who are a little more adventurous, the Kangoo Trekka 4x4, on sale since 2001, brings off-roading to a whole new audience thanks to the offer of four-wheel drive excitement for under £11,000.
The two wheel drive version of Kangoo is available in one trim level only – Authentique – powered by a choice of engines – a 75bhp 1.2 16V or a 75bhp 1.4 Automatic petrol engine or a 65bhp 1.5dCi common-rail diesel.
Kangoo Authentique includes the following equipment as standard:
Power assisted steering, remote control central locking and
Insurance approved engine immobiliser, ‘Tortella’
cloth upholstery, 14-inch steel wheels with Aquarius wheel
trims, 30 watt RDS radio cassette with fingertip remote control,
front fog lamps, 60/40 split rear seat, three integrated rear
head restraints, ISOFIX child seat fixings on centre rear
seat, RAID Renault Anti Intruder Device.
Kangoo Authentique also features core comfort, driving and
versatility equipment including:
Driver and front passenger airbag, height adjustable front
seatbelts with pretensioners, three rear seat three point
seatbelts, tinted glass, two rear sliding side doors, load
anchorage points and rubber floor covering.
Options available on New Kangoo include:
ABS Anti Lock Braking, front lateral airbags, air conditioning
with heat reflecting windscreen, electric front windows, electrically
heated and operated door mirrors, electric panoramic fabric
sunroof with fixed glass sunroof, alloy wheels, overhead aviation-style
storage compartments, overhead parcel shelf, 60 Watt single
CD player and CAT one alarm.
Kangoo Trekka 4x4
The Kangoo Trekka 4x4 is available with two engines combining
driving pleasure, low fuel consumption and respect for the
environment. It goes on sale with a petrol version - the multivalve
K4M 1.6 16V engine - offering one of the best ratios of performance
to fuel consumption.
Its power (95bhp at 5,000rpm) and its torque (148Nm at 3,750rpm) provide driving pleasure both on and off-road, as well as returning a fuel consumption in the combined cycle of 32.9mpg and a CO2 emissions figure of 205g/km.
Kangoo Trekka 4x4 also features a special version of the 1.9dCi common rail turbodiesel. Its power has been restricted to 80bhp at 4,000rpm, and with its high torque output of 180Nm at 2,000rpm, providing sufficient power for this application, driving pleasure will be optimised, resulting in a fuel consumption figure of 40.4mpg in the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 196g/km.
Active and Passive Safety
ABS complete with EBD (electronic brake distribution) and
Emergency Brake Assistance completes an uprated braking system
with four 280mm discs, those at the front being ventilated.
All these elements give the Kangoo 4x4 an excellent level
of active safety. The 15-inch alloy wheels, equipped with
185/65R15 mixed road/all-terrain tyres, optimise transmission
of engine power and torque. The Kangoo Trekka 4x4 thus retains
good traction on all types of terrain without degrading the
vehicle’s response or fuel consumption.
Standard and Optional Equipment
The new Renault Kangoo Trekka 4x4 includes the following equipment

overhead parcel shelf and storage compartments.
