Renault Kangoo
Claymation stars Wallace and Gromit are the faces of New Kangoo, starring in the 'Kangoomatic' commercial which aired in UK cinemas over the summer and is still available to see on Renault UK's website www.renault.co.uk.
The popular Kangoo, which customers have taken to their hearts as the successor to the legendary Renault 4, is the first vehicle in its class to be tested by Euro NCAP, underscoring Renault's insistence on providing the best possible levels of safety to all its customers, even clay-mation ones!
The independent Euro NCAP crash test organisation awarded Kangoo a four-star rating with a score of 26 points out of 37, of which 25 were gained through the vehicle’s performance in the frontal impact and side barrier tests. Kangoo is now the benchmark for safety in its class.
As the Kangoo is not available with lateral airbags as standard at any level of its range, it could not be tested at the five star level which includes the side-impact pole test.
The front part of the vehicle is designed to achieve the best dissipation of energy in the event of an impact. Its collapsible steering column reduces the risk of intrusion into the cabin, thus helping to protect the driver’s lower limbs. The layout of the dashboard also received positive comments from the Euro NCAP experts. Its energy absorption zones reduce the risk of knee injury to front-seat occupants. In addition, the front seats have been stiffened for better stability. In side impacts, padding in the doors provides good protection for the pelvis and the abdomen.
