Chubb Expand Their Fleet By 246 Cars

Renault Megane Sport Tourer

A recent visit to the Renault Technocentre in Paris gave representatives from the UK’s leading security and fire experts, Chubb, an exclusive viewing of two prototype vehicles from the Mégane range. Executives were so impressed with the choice of features and interior space, Chubb has now taken delivery of 246 Renault Mégane Sport Tourer dCi 80 Expression’s making the firm one of the first companies in the UK to have the vehicle on its fleet.

Engineers from across two divisions of Chubb, Chubb Fire and Chubb Electronic Security, will use the vehicles to carry out vital maintenance across the UK such as performing safety checks on alarm systems. With such long distances being covered by Chubb engineers and hundreds of customers dependent on them, it was essential that the vehicles selected for the fleet are not only durable, but also comfortable and reliable.

The Mégane Sport Tourer’s comfort, safety, equipment levels and excellent fuel economy were all factors in Chubb’s decision to purchase, however top of the list was space due to the amount of equipment engineers are required to carry on a daily basis.

Engineers are required to carry tools, uniform and safety equipment, as due to emergency call outs, they can never be sure of the environment in which they will be working in. For example they could be in an office in the morning checking an alarm system, and in the afternoon, 20 ft below ground in a maintenance shaft.

Rob Smith, Fleet Manager at Chubb, said; "At Chubb our engineers work their cars extremely hard, being on call for 24 hours a day, seven days a week for one week in every seven and a varying number of nationwide customer call-outs per day. We need a vehicle we can depend on, that will be able to withstand the constant demands placed upon it by our engineers, as well as being spacious and comfortable for our drivers as they spend a great deal of time on the road.

"Our visit to the Renault Technocentre certainly helped us to make our minds up when we saw the prototype Mégane vehicles. When we saw the final version of the Mégane Sport Tourer dCi 80 it definitely fulfilled all of our criteria."

The Mégane Sport Tourer dCi 80 Expression’s were purchased by Chubb in a deal worth more than £3.2m at showroom prices.
