Renault Twingo

The eagerly awaited Renault Twingo has arrived in UK showrooms and is on sale now. UK drivers can finally get their hands on Twingo in right-hand-drive for the first time, and Renault’s small-car success looks set to grow even further.

Renault Twingo is the way small cars are meant to be, feisty, practical and connected. Renault has sold more than 2.4 million Twingos worldwide since its launch in April 1993, ensuring that it has been a major player in the small-car segment for decades, with Clio and Modus enhancing its rich heritage even further. New Twingo is the first vehicle in an extensive range renewal programme under the Renault Commitment 2009 plan.

In the UK, New Twingo will be available in two engines and trims, both with a sporty and stylish feel. The Dynamique trim with a 1.2 16V 75 petrol engine is priced at £8,375. Manual air conditioning is available on Dynamique as a £525 option. The GT with the new 1.2 TCE 100 petrol engine, which is also available on some Clio and Modus versions, is £9,995, beating its nearest competitor, the Fiat Panda, on price.

Twingo Dynamique has most of its competitors beat in terms of standard equipment it offers such as individual sliding rear seats and front fog lights. Front lateral airbags are also standard on Twingo but aren’t available at all on the Citroen C2 1.4 or the Ford KA Zetec.

Twingo GT has the best combined mpg in comparison to its competitors as well as the lowest emissions, making Renault’s Twingo the environmentally-friendly choice. Both versions of Twingo form part of a wide choice of Renault models across most of its range that meet Renault’s strict eco2 criteria.

New Twingo GT’s list of standard equipment also impresses compared to its competitors. Safety features such as front lateral airbags aren’t available on the Fiat, despite Twingo being cheaper.

New Twingo – feisty, practical and connected

The 21st Century Twingo is a car with the modern buyer and their demands in mind.

Its sporty and stylish good looks combine with the largest boot space in its class ensuring there’s plenty of room behind the wheel and that there’s enough space for four occupants and all their belongings to travel in comfort.

The technologically minded can also be assured that Twingo has benefited from modern innovations such as active and passive safety features including ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) and driver and front passenger lateral airbags, or equipment to ensure comfort such as air conditioning which is standard on the GT.

Music and connectivity is key to the spirit of New Twingo and advances in technology have been fully incorporated into its development with the option of integrated Bluetooth Hands free telephone system as well as a ‘TunePoint’ (anchorage connection point concealed in the glove box) for MP3 players ensuring you can easily transfer your music from your pocket to your Twingo.

Twingo is assertive and assured, boasting the high levels of interior and exterior quality and equipment that a buyer expects from a modern vehicle.

Twingo = eco2

Renault recently launched its ‘eco2’ initiative which focuses on the full lifecycle of its vehicles from design right through to eventual recycling. Each eco2 vehicle must meet three strict criteria in terms of manufacturing, emissions (being 140 g/km or lower) and recycling.

New Twingo is an eco2 vehicle and beneath its sporty exterior lurks a breath of fresh air for the environment with a frugal, economical and ecological choice of engines. The 1.2 16V 75 emissions of 135 g/km and a combined mpg of 49.5.

The new 1.2 TCE 100 engine provides the torque of the 1.6 VVT 111 engine, the power of the 1.4 16V and the economy and emissions of the 1.2 16V 75. New Twingo also has the lowest emissions for a 100hp car.

With a combined mpg of 47.8, low emissions of just 140 g/km, a top speed of 117 mph and 145 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm, the 1.2 TCE 100 offers frugal fuel economy and a strong performance.
