Espace Globe Ellen MacArthur is as unique as the person herself with new items of equipment and recognisable by the specific tailgate badging incorporating Globe and Ellen MacArthur's signature.
Based on the popular Expression trim additional equipment includes a new feature for Espace – a fixed glass panoramic roof with electric sunblind. Covering two thirds of the roof, as an opening sunroof this is a popular option but customers told Renault they love looking through it and the light it brings, but with air conditioning as standard, they never open it. The new fixed roof therefore doesn’t open and reduces the cost
One feature Ellen said was essential was the Carminat Satellite Navigation System with colour screen and real time traffic TMC messaging, normally a £1,600 option.
Ellen says, ‘It’s cool to have the GPS. It’s absolutely essential on the boat. Driving through big cities though is always a challenge and you can’t have a map book out in the car when you’re on your own. So the sat’ nav’ is invaluable."
When Ellen is not listening to the sound of crashing waves then music is important so a powerful 160W auditorium hi-fi with boot mounted six CD multi-changer, an RDS radio with remote control is fitted, normally a £450 option.
Ellen’s car has to work for a living just like any family car so one essential is the roof bars which when not being used aid the aerodynamics of the car by forming a rear roof spoilers.
Other special features include 17" Hurlingham wheel stylers, folding blue-tinted electric mirrors for those tight spots, anti-pinch front & rear electric windows with added one-touch feature, upholstery and standard Navy Blue paint or five optional metallic paint colours. Cruise control, with speed limiter, is also standard on the automatic versions though it’s fair to say that Ellen would never have used a speed limiter on her B&Q trimaran!
Value for money
There are also three option packs that have also been created especially for Espace GEM offering customers even more choice on top of the already impressive list of standard features at even more value-for-money with savings of up to £200 available on each pack.
The 'Driving Pack' and 'Communication Pack' are only available on manual versions of the car. 'Driving' includes parking proximity sensor, cruise control/ speed limiter and tyre pressure monitor priced at £550 (saving the customer £200).
The 'Communication Pack' (manual cars only) includes hands free telephone system and cruise control/ speed limiter at £550 (a saving of £100).
Finally the 'Travel Pack' costs £650 and includes hands free card, swivelling front seats, opening tailgate window and electrochrome rear view mirror & auto wipers & auto wipers (& "follow-me home" headlights) (saving £200).
