In honour of its partnership since 2003 as Official Vehicle Supplier to Dame Ellen MacArthur and her Offshore Challenges Sailing Team, and to celebrate Dame Ellen's magnificent sailing achievement of a new solo, non-stop round the world record of 71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes and 33 seconds, Renault UK and Ellen have created the new Espace Globe Ellen MacArthur special edition.
Exclusively for the UK market
On sale now, the new Espace Globe Ellen MacArthur (GEM) is only available in the UK and was designed just for UK drivers. MPV buyers with a similarly active approach to life as Ellen can now choose a car she designed for her needs.
Espace GEM is available with three engines, one petrol and two diesels. The 2.0 16V 140hp petrol engine is priced at £21,995. The 1.9 dCi 120hp version is £22,995 whilst the popular 2.2 dCi 150hp costs £24,495 with the automatic 2.2 dCi Auto 150hp at £25,995.
Extra equipment worth a massive £3,300
The additional equipment fitted to Espace Globe Ellen MacArthur is worth a massive £3,300 making it outstanding value for money. Prices are up by only £545 compared to the Expression version giving extra value to the amount of £2,755.
Dame Ellen drives ‘herself’
Dame Ellen MacArthur herself drives a top-of-the-range Espace whilst on land needing a car that can take her and the team long distances in comfort and safety, then, at her destination, could be moving around vast amounts of equipment and supplies. Now, Ellen will be driving the very car created by her and Renault UK in her name!
Having driven the new Espace for two years Ellen knew the features that made life better when she is behind the wheel. Espace Globe Ellen MacArthur is designed to reflect these qualities - the car is ultra spacious inside, light and airy and is packed full of technology, just like Ellen's famous B&Q trimaran is. Even the standard colour reflects the ocean, coming in navy blue!
Ellen MacArthur certainly approves of the new special edition’s name. "Globe’s kind of appropriate isn’t it?" says Dame Ellen having recently returned from her circumnavigation of it. "At the sea my trimaran does the work but leave the cars to tackle the land based stuff!".
