More Dealers Take On Proton Franchise

Published: 3rd October 2002

Proton has closed three more open points in its UK dealer network and broadened its nationwide coverage in preparation for franchise expansion in 2003.

Newest recruit to the Malaysian brand is Ivybridge Motors Ltd, which has opened a solus Proton dealership in Ivybridge*, near Plymouth in Devon. The company already represents two other new car franchises in the area.

The Ivybridge location offers Proton a modern six car showroom, supported by a used car display and full service and parts facilities.

Prestons in Chelmsford, Essex and Adams & Sons in Oakham, Rutland, have also become full, solus Proton dealers. At the same time Proton Cars (UK) Ltd has appointed three more agency dealers, a new category created earlier this year to increase network coverage and sales in areas where a full dealership may not be viable.

Based in Scotland, the new agency dealers are Forthway Group in Glenrothes, Auto Services in Perth and Mackays Garage in Edinburgh. Agency dealers are small but fully functioning Proton outlets operating either as stand alone sites or aligned to larger dealers.
