Proton Cars UK Limited (PCUKL) is pleased to announce that the Savvy, its brand new 5 door city car, is now available on the Motability Scheme.

In January 2005, following the successful introduction of the GEN-2 family hatchback and its strong residual values, PCUKL announced that many of its dealers were now achieving Motability Dealer Partner status. The relationship between Proton Cars and the Motability Scheme continues to flourish with the addition of the Savvy onto the Scheme.

Simon Park, Proton’s General Manager of Sales and Marketing said: "Following on from the GEN-2’s success on the Motability Scheme we are pleased to be able to add the Savvy onto the Scheme as well."

Through the Motability Scheme, PCUKL will provide customers with a brand new vehicle every three years, covering the costs of insurance, loss and damage protection, maintenance and breakdown cover – giving customers low-cost worry-free motoring.

Mike Betts, Chief Executive of Motability Operations said: "Continuing to expand the choice available on the Motability Scheme remains a priority. The increasing range of affordable new cars, such as the Proton Savvy, means that there has never been a better time to be a customer on the Motability Scheme."

Quite apart from the benefits offered to customers on the Motability Scheme, the Proton Savvy and the GEN-2 offer a host of benefits to drivers.

The 1.2 litre Proton Savvy, available in two trim levels, has a wide range of standard equipment, including twin airbags, radio/CD player, reverse distance sensors, height adjustable driver’s seat, remote central locking and ABS, plus enough space inside to comfortably fit four adults and one of the largest boot capacities in its class. Higher specification Savvy Style models also have air conditioning, alloy wheels and electric front windows as standard and are available with the option of an automated manual transmission for those drivers preferring an automatic version.

The Proton GEN-2, available in both 1.3 and 1.6 litre engines, has air conditioning, a radio/ CD player, twin airbags, reverse distance sensors, remote central locking, electric front windows and ABS as standard across the range. The top of the range GEN-2 1.6 GSX also has climate control, side airbags and rear electric windows. For comfort and convenience all GEN-2 models have height adjustable driver’s seat and steering column, driver’s foot rest, steering wheel audio controls and 60:40 split folding rear seats.
