Equipment and Options - Sophisticated Ambience

Taking your seat in Porsche’s new four-wheel-drive Cabriolet, you will feel at home immediately: The design of the interior is the same as that of the current generation of the Porsche 911, standing out in particular through the careful harmonisation of colours and materials. The wide range of features finished as standard in grained leather includes on both models the gearshift lever, steering wheel rim, handbrake lever gaiter, the cover on the storage box in the centre console, the cover on the door storage box, as well as the door handles.

The seat centre sections as well as the side supports and front headrests are also finished in grained leather, while the remaining surfaces are made of a particularly sophisticated, top-quality plastic material allowing all kinds of grain finish and providing a particularly pleasant surface touch. The result is a truly attractive interior throughout with both the roof open and closed.

Even wider range of equipment in the S-model

Over and above the basic features of both models, the Carrera S Cabriolet comes with a special sports steering wheel, aluminium-coloured instrument faces in the instrument cluster and interior components finished in aluminium look, such as the air nozzles and the ornamental trim on the dashboard.

To provide a very special, individualised touch within the interior, both the Carrera 4 Cabriolet and the Carrera 4S Cabriolet are available in highly attractive twin-tone colour. This bi-colour finish comes in three leather combinations: in Black/Terracotta, in discreet Black/Stone Grey, and in high contrast Black/Sand Beige.

Specific features and solutions tailored to the Cabriolets are to be found particularly in the rear-seat area and on the parcel shelf: The rear seats of the Carrera 4 Cabriolet have steeper backrests than in the Coupé due to the roof compartment accommodated at the back. Additional upholstering is therefore provided in the lumbar area beneath the backrest to ensure the right biomechanical back posture. Last but certainly not least, the new Carrera 4 Cabriolet provides the option to fold down the rear backrests in order to provide an additional 155 litres or 5.4 cu ft luggage capacity supplementing the luggage compartment in the front (105 litres/3.7 cu ft).

Ergonomically outstanding seating position

As is to be expected in a Porsche, both the driver and front passengers benefit from extremely ergonomic seats. The lower seating position, the steering wheel adjustable for both reach and height, as well as the pedals moved further to the front, offer particularly the tall driver and front passenger outstanding comfort at all times.

The optional sports seats provide another 50 per cent side support over the standard seats, while the adaptive sports seats even allow the driver to adjust the side supports in the seat bottom and the backrests individually to his or her perfect position.

The open-air Carrera 4 comes as standard with a three-spoke steering wheel. The Carrera 4S, in turn, features an even more dynamic sports steering wheel.

The multifunction steering wheel available as an option allows the driver, depending on the car’s level of equipment, to operate important audio, navigation and telephone functions directly via six function buttons on the steering wheel.

Further features standard on both Cabriolets are automatic air conditioning with a combined interior filter (activated carbon and pollen filter), an anti-theft warning system with interior surveillance, as well as Porsche Communication Management complete with a CD radio and 9 loudspeakers.

PCS with sound, telephone and navigation options

PCM Porsche Communication Management now also able to play CDs in MP3 music format can be supplemented by further optionally available modules such as a DVD navigation system, a BOSE Surround Sound System, and a telephone.

A new option available with PCM is the electronic trip recorder interacting with the navigation system to record up to 1,500 trips, depending on the driver's requirements. All the driver has to do in this case is confirm either prior to setting out or during a trip whether he is travelling on business or privately. The data recorded may then be conveyed via the PCM infra-red interface to an appropriately equipped laptop or PDA, subsequently being processed by means of the software provided together with the system.

This new option meets all the requirements made, for example, by the authorities in Germany of an automatic trip recorder with a logbook function.

Further examples from the long list of individual features are the Parking Assistant measuring the distance to nearby obstacles at the rear by means of ultrasound and warning the driver, were appropriate, of a possible collision, or the programmable HomeLink System, an integrated garage gate opener able to replace up to three manual transmitters also for illumination systems and alarm units.
