To mark the occasion – which coincided with Press Day at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live in Birmingham – Peugeot launched a great new television advertisement along with a host of other marketing activities.
The new television advertisement entitled "407 Toys" features a world where everyone drives a variety of wacky toy cars. The 407 appears in the midst of these bizarre life-size toys with the line "The Peugeot 407 – Playtime is Over". The music "Can you trust me?" is provided by French band ‘The Film’.
The new 407 is already an award winner. At the motor show in Birmingham a team of expert automotive engineers and designers from the Institute of Vehicle Engineers (IVehE) voted the 407 the winner in its best in show large car category. The judges were "particularly impressed by the very high feature level and strong safety specification". It was also highly commended in the category 10 award for safety.
Following the public launch, customers can now test-drive the 407 at their local Peugeot dealer. Prices start at £14,750 for the 1.8 litre petrol in ‘S’ trim and go up to £22,250 for the Executive V6 automatic. Retail customers can also take advantage of a 0% finance offer over three years.
The model range includes two Euro IV compliant diesel engines with FAP particulate emission filters, a 1.6 litre HDi unit developing 110 bhp and a 2.0 litre unit developing 136 bhp.
The Peugeot 407 also heralds a new era for Peugeot in terms of driving dynamics with the car featuring an advanced chassis and double wishbone front suspension – a first for Peugeot.
Late summer will see the UK launch of the 407 SW, a car which successfully combines the purposeful, stylish appearance of the saloon with the versatility of an estate car. Priced from only £15,850 the 407 SW is expected to have a wide ranging appeal to both retail and fleet customers alike.
