Petrol or Diesel HDi - a wide range of engines
The petrol and Diesel HDi engines that power the 407 feature the latest in engine technology and provide numerous benefits to the customer. The various engine options combine with 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes or 4-speed or 6-speed automatic gearboxes. All diesel engines include a particulate emission filter and those with manual gearboxes also comply with Euro 4 emission standards.
Petrol engines
- 1.8-litre engine (EW7J4) with 16 valves, developing 117 bhp and 163 Nm of torque combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
- 2.0-litre engine (EW10J4), with 16 valves, developing 136 bhp and 190 Nm of torque combined with either a 5-speed manual gearbox, or a 4-speed automatic, autoadaptive gearbox with "Porsche Tiptronic System" control.
- 2.2-litre engine (EW12J4) producing 160 bhp and 217 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic autoadaptive gearbox with "Porsche Tiptronic System" control.
- 3.0-litre V6 engine (ES9A), offering 211 bhp and 290 Nm of torque. This engine incorporates variable valve timing (VVT) and is combined with an all-new 6-speed automatic gearbox equipped with the "Porsche Tiptronic System" to enhance overall performance.
Diesel engines
At launch, the 407 will feature two modern HDi Diesel engines offering high performance in terms of dynamism, driving economy and respect for the environment:
- 1.6-litre HDi engine (DV6TED4) with particulate emission filter (PEF) developing 110 bhp and 240 Nm of torque (260 Nm with ‘overboost'). It complies with Euro 4 legislation and a particulate filter is fitted as standard. It is combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
- 2.0-litre HDi engine (DW10BTED4) with particulate emission filter (PEF) developing 136 bhp and 320 Nm of torque (340 Nm with ‘overboost’) and combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
