Range Topping Model Completes Peugeot 206 SW Line-Up | Part Two

Styling

As with the rest of the SW range, the 2.0 Si is visually identical to its hatchback sister from the A-pillar forwards, whereas from the B-pillar aft, it is entirely new.

The most notable difference between the hatchback and the SW is the extra 19.3cm of length the 206 SW carries behind the rear wheels to provide a suitably large load area. Black pillars give the 206 SW a well-defined waist that follows the tapering window line. The rear outer door panels have their handles subtly incorporated into the door pillars, but given a grained texture to be easily distinguishable from the bodywork.

The distinctive black side mouldings and black roof rails add to the look.

At the back, the tail-lights wrap round the body to give a ‘boomerang’ shape, and are as easily seen from the side as from the rear.

Innovative Rear Window

The 206 SW 2.0 Si shares an innovative feature which is standard across the SW range – the independent opening rear tailgate window, a world first for its class. This allows for easy loading and unloading of goods, and extra long objects can be transported in much greater safety than if the tailgate had to be opened to accommodate them.

To make this possible, the rear wiper assembly is attached to the window itself. To make life easy for the driver, either the whole tailgate, or just the rear window can be unlocked via the ‘plip’ key fob. A display on the instrument panel reminds the driver if the rear window or entire tailgate has been left open. The rear window is dark tinted and sits beneath a full-length black rear spoiler that incorporates the central high-mounted brake light.

Load Area

The load area is suitably impressive with a capacity of up to 480 litres of luggage if the boot is filled to the roof-line. With the load cover in place, the capacity is still an impressive 313 litres.

2.0 Litre Petrol Engine

The 2.0 litre petrol engine, produces 138 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 143 lb.ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. It produces a maximum speed of 130 mph with a 0-62 mph acceleration of 9.3 seconds. It has a combined fuel economy figure of 35.8 mpg, and CO2 emissions of 189 g/km.

Colours And Trim

The 206 SW 2.0 Si is available in Flamenco Red or Black, or with metallic paint colour options of Aluminium, Mercury Grey, Moonstone or Sahara Yellow, or pearlescent China Blue. The standard trim is Zagros cloth with leather and Alcantara trim, with full leather available as an option.

Other Models

The 206 SW is also available with a choice of 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrol engines and 1.4 HDi and 2.0 HDi turbo diesel units. Prices for the range start at £8,995 OTR for the XL 1.1 litre version.
