The 406 is available with free satellite navigation from just £199 a month for the 406 1.8 S Saloon through Peugeot’s contract hire programme.
The entire range has been simplified, and now adopts new model names, L, S, SE and Executive, thus dropping the existing mid-range LX, Rapier and GLX derivatives. The ‘Family’ estate and all V6 petrol versions have been discontinued.

Pricing
Like for like, many models have been reduced in price with some ‘Executive’ prices being reduced by as much as £1,300.
Specifications
Standard equipment across the range also includes automatic door locking, rear electric window operation and air-conditioning. Additionally, all SE and Executive HDi 110 models are fitted with cruise control, and Executive models are fitted with ESP as standard equipment.
Interior Trim
All models are now offered with an all-new, burnished aluminium finish central facia. Additionally, each model benefits from a range of new look materials on all door and dashboard ‘inserts’.
The dashboard is further enhanced by the introduction of a new five dial instrument display, with ‘S’ and ‘SE’ derivatives further benefiting from sport white faced dials. The burnished aluminium effect also extends to the dial surrounds.
A variety of new seat trim materials also feature in the enhanced 406 range.
External Styling
The classic lines of the 406 now feature the addition of new 16" alloy wheels on all S, SE and Executive models while chrome trim now features on the grille surround and exhaust tail pipe.
The estate models also feature a dark tint rear screen – first seen on the stunning 206 SW – along with a new, bold, chrome lion tailgate badge.
With its low fuel consumption of 50.4mpg (combined figure) and low CO2 emissions of 147g/km (406 saloon S 2.0 HDi 110bhp), the 406 represents great economic value for fleet managers, and combined with the subtle style, space, handling, comfort and now free satellite navigation, makes it an even more practical and sensible choice.
