First Honours Awarded To Peugeot Technicians
Published: 22nd February 2003
Peugeot’s new technical training programme combines both PC based and practical training with distance learning. The main advantages are that technicians are not taken away from their dealerships for any real length of time and each technician can learn at their own pace. Well over 80% of Dealers have enrolled their technicians in the programme.
There are four levels of qualification – Service Technician, Qualified Technician, Senior Technician and Master Technician. Following assessment, each technician follows an individual training plan and is assisted by Technical Training Advisors, who personally oversee the progress of each technician during visits to the dealership, and provide tailored coaching as required.
Andy Pemberton, Director of Service at Peugeot says: "It is fantastic to see the first technicians successfully complete the programme, and we now hope they will be motivated to achieve the next level of qualifications. The mix of distance and classroom learning supported by regional technical training advisers certainly seems to suit most technicians and their dealerships, as it allows both to work together to raise the technical skills on offer to Peugeot customers."
Peugeot is currently the only franchise to offer this type
of technical training to dealership staff.
