With the arrival of the new SW and Estate, the Peugeot 307 – International Car of the Year 2002 – continues to go from strength to strength, with a model to suit every purpose and pocket.
And with three and five door hatchback models, the choice of petrol and diesel power as well as manual or automatic transmission, there are now over 60 different models to choose from.
With different models to satisfy different needs, the 307 hatchback offers the perfect solution for family and business users. With seating for up to seven people, the 307 SW is the perfect lifestyle vehicle while the practical Estate can seat five in comfort and carry impressive amounts of luggage.
Safety is a key attribute of the car, with the 307 having the best safety features in its class: all three models have six airbags, ABS with EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distributor), Emergency Brake Assist and auto hazard light illumination. All three rear seats have adjustable head restraints and three-point seatbelts (the two optional seats in the SW also have adjustable head restraints and three point seatbelts).
All three models have Peugeot’s distinctive feline front end with a stylish, modern twist making it a head-turner on the road.
As an all round family or executive vehicle, the 307 hatchback comes in two body styles, three or five door with petrol or diesel engine options. Engines range from the 1.4 litre petrol engine to the 2.0 HDi 110 bhp turbo diesel engine. Its sleek, stylish monospace design disguises the fact that it is one of the biggest cars in its class. With a height of 1.51 metres, the 307 has a high seating position which allows for plenty of room for all passengers, and an ample boot space that can hold 341 litres of luggage when the seats are in position, or up to 1,328 litres when the seats are folded.
Comfort and convenience are enhanced by clever storage solutions such as an air-conditioned glovebox in most models allowing owners to keep drinks or snacks cool, slide out trays beneath the front seats to hide valuables out of sight and hooks for shopping bags in the boot.
Prices start from £10,680 on the road for the three door hatchback, and £11,360 for the five door version.
The Peugeot 307 SW combines the key elements of a traditional estate with the most pertinent aspects of a medium sized MPV. The 307 SW is geared towards the leisure and family market and can seat up to seven people or with five seats allows for plenty of load carrying space, whether for bikes, surfing equipment or the weekly shop.
Its most distinctive feature is the panoramic, athermic glass roof which stretches from the windscreen over the second row of seats, creating an ambience of light and space for all passengers. An electric blind allows customers to control the amount of sunlight entering through the roof.
Available with a 1.6 or 2.0 litre petrol engine, or the 2.0 HDi 90 bhp or 110 bhp engine, prices start from £13,660 on the road.
With the introduction of the 307 Estate, Peugeot has ensured that load-lugging customers can have an ever-practical, versatile, yet still stylish vehicle. The Estate is able to easily seat five people with impressive load carrying space due to its flat and low level boot, which ranges from 503 to 1,835 litres when the rear seats are folded.
Available with two petrol (1.4 and 1.6 litre), or three turbocharged HDi diesel engines (1.4 HDi, 2.0 HDi 90bhp and 110bhp), the 307 Estate starts at £11,860 on the road.
307 Petrol v 307 Diesel
Sales of petrol and diesel models have been evenly divided in 2002, with petrol sales of 50.2% and diesel sales of 49.8%, the latter contributing to Peugeot’s lead in the growing UK diesel market with a share of over 13%.
The 307 hatchback is currently available with 0% finance (subject to a minimum deposit of 35%) over three years*. The Peugeot Passport programme also offers an enticing financial package*: for example, the 307 Style 1.4 three door will cost customers £169 a month (with a deposit of £2,310), making the 307 an even more affordable and attractive choice.
