Peugeot 807
In Car Entertainment and Satellite Navigation
Our test vehicle was equipped with a 6 Disc CD Autochanger / radio (£300 option). Good sound quality with steering wheel mounted controls keeping your hands safely on the wheel. Standard equipment is a Clarion radio/CD player with 8 speakers.
Our test car featured optional (£1,350) RT3 colour satellite navigation incorporating a GSM phone. This system was easy to use and the voice recognition facility allows the user to operate the system hands free.
Rivals
- Chrysler Grand Voyager, Citroen C8, Fiat Ulysse, Ford Galaxy, Hyundai Trajet, Kia Sedona, Renault Espace, SEAT Alhambra and Volkswagen Sharan.
What We Liked
- Diesel engine
- Exterior / interior styling
- The rear electric sliding doors
- 4-Speed 'Tiptronic' auto-adaptive automatic gearbox
What We Disliked
- The position of the handbrake - a foot operated parking brake would be more appropriate
What We'd Like To See
- With the Satellite Navigation option a rear view camera would be helpful when reversing in addition to the parking sensors
Build Quality
The materials used are of a good quality - not too sure how well the window blinds will stand up to family use as they were a little bit flimsy but overall a very solid vehicle that has been well thought out and put together.
Value For Money
At £23,000 OTR the Peugeot 807 GLX 2.0 HDi is very good value for money as it offers a high level of standard safety equipment combined with excellent levels of refinement at a competitive price.
Overall Opinion
The Peugeot 807 is an attractive and purposeful vehicle which is easy to drive especially when coupled to the 4-Speed 'Tiptronic' auto-adaptive automatic gearbox. The 2.0 litre diesel engine was ultimately a little underpowered especially when fully laden and we would recommend the more powerful 2.2 diesel engine.
The amount of thought Peugeot have put into the ergonomics of the vehicle is impressive enabling you to just load up and drive. A family trip to the seaside is where the 807 came into its own transporting a family of five with the minimum of fuss. This was in part down to the novelty factor of the 'magic' rear electric sliding doors and the Satellite Navigation system which displayed the moving map in some beautiful colour shades and kept the kid thoroughly entertained without the need for 'are we there yet' as they could watch the journey.
