One feature that we liked was that the radio automatically tunes into local/national FM stations, so that at the touch of button all the available stations are displayed.

Infotainment

One feature that we liked was that the radio automatically tunes into local/national FM stations, so that at the touch of button all the available stations are displayed.

Our Peugeot 5008 test car we was fitted with Peugeot Connect Navigation (RNEG) with Colour Satellite Navigation and Bluetooth, a £715 optional extra. The navigation unit cleverly slides up from the dashboard. It did not seem to allow you to enter full postcodes, so setting up routes was little more time consuming.

Our test car was fitted with the £510 optional rear multimedia system twin video screen pack including two wireless headphones - what is strange is that it requires your own video input, i.e. from a portable DVD player, portable game machine or video camera, why can't you play back video via a built in DVD player? But you can have two different inputs, i.e. two portable DVD players playing two different videos (that should help keep the children under control on long journeys).

Rivals
  • Citroen C4 Grand Picasso
  • Ford S-MAX
  • Mazda5
  • Renault Grand Scenic
  • Vauxhall Zafira
What We Liked
  • One shot back panoramic sunroof
  • Head Up Display - useful for keeping you within the speed limit without taking your eyes off the road
  • Electronic parking brake with Hill Assist
  • Peugeot Connect Navigation (RNEG)
What We Disliked
  • The Satellite Navigation system did not seem to allow full post code entry
What We'd Like To See

A rear parking camera, if Satellite Navigation is specified, it would make sense to be able to incorporate it into the screen.

Conclusion

Peugeot have produced an excellent compact MPV, the high grade interior is supported by some very innovative and family friendly features. It is only really suitable for five people and the very occasional extra two, when you don't need to carry any extra internal luggage.

We are not too sure about the 6 speed EGC automatic gearbox, it takes some getting used to - although there is a fully automatic option but that is only currently available with the HDi 163 bhp 1997cc diesel engine.

It will appeal to both young family owners and to the more senior driver who will like the elevated seating position.
