- 407 HDi 110 accounts for 27% of 407 sales in 2004
Since it went on sale in June 2004, Peugeot’s desirable 407 is seeing a ‘champion’ within the range. The Euro IV compliant HDi 110 engine has been hailed a major success by fleet customers with orders received from some 50 major fleets in just the past six months.
The 110 bhp HDi turbo charged diesel engine produces a maximum torque of 180 lb.ft at 1,750 rpm which, thanks to the engine’s "over boost" function - activated with the engine at full load between 1,500 rpm and 3,750 rpm - can provide a temporary torque increase of 8.3%. With combined fuel consumption figure of 51.3 mpg (50.4 mpg SW) this model is both environmentally friendly and economical to operate. Eco-friendly CO2 readings of 145 g/km and 149 g/km for the saloon and SW respectively put the HDi 110 diesel in the lowest 15 per cent bracket for company car drivers.
The popular 407 HDi 110 has already achieved a 27% share of total 407 fleet sales since its launch in June with 3,000 units sold year to date.
Steve Harris, fleet and leasing director at Peugeot says: "Against strong competition the 407 has already made its mark and is all set to be a very important car for our fleet customers. The 110 bhp engine variant has proved extremely popular with its combination of power and economy meeting many customers’ requirements. The number of orders since its launch has been excellent and we expect this to be even stronger in 2005."
Two of Peugeot’s largest fleet customers are IKON Office Solutions and JohnsonDiversey. Both have already placed volume orders for the 407 HDi 110 diesel.
IKON Office Solutions, the world’s largest independent channel for copiers and printers, provides office technology and support services to customers nationwide and has taken 88 407 110 bhp models since August 2004.
Group support services manager at IKON, Michelle Beeson says: "The 407 HDi 110 bhp was chosen by consulting IKON’s engineering workforce who needed a vehicle to suit both their work and leisure activities. The 407 is the workhorse of IKON’s 700 strong fleet, chosen for its Euro IV compliancy, style and performance."
Based in Northampton, JohnsonDiversey provides cleaning and hygiene solutions and has ordered 23 407 HDi 110 models, alongside other Peugeot models over the past six months. The stylish 407 saloon is used by its national account managers and sales managers. The spacious 407 SW version is used by its engineers to transport specialist cleaning equipment.
Sandra Clews, fleet manager says: "We operate a green fleet policy and chose the Peugeot 407 HDi 110 bhp because we wanted a car that could offer low CO2 emissions, excellent mpg figures together with a strong diesel engine. Many of our drivers re-pay their private fuel and have been choosing the HDi 110 engine because it is so economical to run."Published 24 January 2005
