Peugeot 1007

Safety and Security

As standard the Peugeot 1007 is fitted with ESP (electronic stability programme), ABS (anti-lock brakes), and ASR (traction control) which once would have been expensive options on expensive cars. Most cars these days come with six airbags, (2 x front, 2 x sides and 2 x curtain) but the 1007 comes with seven. It also has a steering column airbag!!

When we tested the Peugeot 1007 it had been awarded the highest ever Euro NCAP occupant rating of five stars. In theory if you had a head on accident with a Land Rover, you would come off better.

Overall the 1007 is a safe place to be and therefore we award it our five star rating.

Comfort and Refinement

Generally you do not expect a city car to be so well specified, with options that once were only seen on luxury limousines.

Although our test car came with a number of options, electric sun roof (£550), Satellite Navigation (£1650), 5 Disc CD Auto-Changer (£230), JBL Hi-Fi (£400), Cruise Control (£200), Alloy Wheels (£400) and on top of that we had the benefit of the Protection Pack. Which comprises of Parking Sensors, Electric Folding Mirrors and an Ultrasonic Alarm (£450) - in fact all the options added to our test car cost a whopping £4586.66.

As I like a touch of technology and luxury I would want of all these options, but obviously for some that might not financially be possible.

My butler (i.e. my better half) normally opens my car doors for me, but if you are not as fortunate as me - the Peugeot 1007 has a great trick up its sleeve and that is it will open either of the sliding front doors at a touch of a button, either on the dashboard or by using the remote control on the key fob. This isn’t a gimmick apart from the benefits to those of you with mobility restrictions; it does allow you to park in much tighter spots. It was for instance very easy to get in and out the 1007 in my tight garage, with out the risk of damaging the doors.

When opening and closing the doors chime and should you decide to poke your head out, they will stop on contact but of course this is not a recommended experiment as they have some force behind them.

You do get climate control (air conditioning) which is a good idea as there is plenty of glass and rear seat passengers don’t benefit from rear opening windows.
