Build Quality

Overall build quality is very good and there is little to fault. The materials used are of a high standard and should prove durable in the long term. The 307 hatchback model has suffered from reliability issues, so bear in mind that this may have been carried across to 307 CC.

Value For Money

The entry level Peugeot 307 CC 1.6 model is competitively priced at £16,995, with Renault’s Megane Coupe-Cabriolet range starting at £17,220. The nearest equivalent Renault to the Peugeot 307 CC 2.0 (180 bhp) is the turbo charged Privilege 2.0 (165 bhp) at £ 20,915 - The 307 CC 2.0 (180 bhp) is currently priced at £20,945, so you save £25 by buying the Renault and it is also a quicker car.

To date we haven’t driven the Renault, but we have driven the Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet - which starts at £14,610 for a 1.4 model and rises to £ 19,665 for the 2.0 litre model. We preferred the Beetle for a number of reasons, but mainly for the kudos, residual value and smiles per miles. If you really enjoy driving (which we do) we would seriously look at the MINI Cooper S Convertible, which starts at £17,600. Of course neither the VW Beetle or the MINI have a steel roof which has security implications if you don't have a garage or have to park on the street.

Overall Opinion

We enjoyed every mile we spent with the Peugeot 307 CC, yes it has some flaws, but when it comes to smiles per mile, few cars for a little over £20,000 can beat the enjoyment of lowering that fantastic steel roof at the touch of button and then going for a drive.

The Peugeot 307 CC is an easy car to live with and is beautiful to look at - both its performance and handling are commendable and in our opinion it is well worth a viewing.
