Perodua Dealer Interest At All Time High

Published: 1st August 2002
With the introduction of the Kelisa city car in January 2002, Perodua UK predicted a rise in the dealer network of 12 per cent by the end of the year to cope with the increased demand for product. In fact the network has already grown by 19 per cent in the first six months of the year, with the addition of seven new dealerships.

"The expansion programme has exceeded our expectations and further underlines the renewed level of interest and overall confidence in the Perodua franchise," says Tim Slaughter, Perodua UK’s Managing Director.

David Green, whose Rydal Garage operation in Elvington near York has recently joined the Perodua network adds, " I can see Kelisa making a lot of friends in York. The city is very congested and a compact car such as Kelisa, which returns over 60 mpg, is bound to be an attractive proposition. I also like the way I can do business with Perodua - this is a franchise I feel confident I can grow with."

Dennis Maltby from new Perodua dealership DRM Motors in Skegness says; "Kelisa is very good news for our area where buyers generally want as new a car as possible for the minimum outlay. The bonus is the fact that it is put together so well and highly specified to start with. I have also been delighted with the level of personal, friendly service that Perodua puts in to this franchise."

With these latest appointments the Perodua dealer network now totals 43. Continued interest in the franchise will result in further announcements in the next few months, though key open points remain, notably in the Thames valley, West Midlands, North Wales, Manchester and Scotland.

The most recent Perodua appointments are:

  • Turners of Sedgefield, Cleveland
  • Rydal Garage, Elvington, North Yorks
  • Raj Motors, Leicester
  • Wem Motors Ltd, Wem, Shropshire
  • Endon Service Station, Stoke-on-Trent
  • HRM Motorcars, Stretham, Cambs
  • DRM Motors, Skegness
