Alec Poole, Team Manager of the Nissan Rally raid Team gives his comments on these new Teams.

" We have a Cosmopolitan Team with people from Japan, Sweden, Finland, France, South Africa, Portugal, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Scotland, Ireland and one from England…. It is refreshing to have such an open, friendly and enthusiastic Team.

Although our Pickups are more closely related to what you can buy in the Show Room than say the competitors, I feel we should still be competitive in the early stages of the Rally. Our real test will come when, (not if), things start going wrong in the second week. Everything will depend on how we react as we do not have the experience of running our Pickups for this length of time.

Can we diagnose what is wrong and can we put it right quickly. We must not expect too much, we have a lot to learn, but with spirit everything is possible, even if it does not come our way, in our first year.

I think our young South African driver Giniel De Villiers will surprise a few people with his speed, so hope he does not have things go wrong before he has an opportunity to show his potential. "
