The New Micra exceeded our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the car.

Build Quality

Overall, build quality is good and with Nissan's reputation for reliability you have a sound package. The materials used are of a high standard and should prove durable in the long term.

Value For Money

The new Micra model range starts at £ 7,495 for the entry-level E model. Our test car the 1.5 dCi SX is priced at £11,295 which might sound expensive for a small car but you do get a high standard specification and superb fuel economy (on average we returned 60 mpg). Servicing and parts costs are low as is the Micra 1.5 dCi SX's group 3 insurance category.

If you buy a new Micra SX before the end of 2004 Nissan are offering free two-tone leather trim with heated front seats. It also comes with free insurance for a year if it’s purchased using Preferences, Nissan’s personal contract purchase plan. [ click here for more information ]

Conclusion

The New Micra exceeded our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the car. This in part was due to the superbly quiet and refined diesel engine and the excellent fuel economy. We even began to wonder why you would even bother with the petrol version.

The SX model is equipped as standard with features including rain sensitive wipers, 'Intelligent key', electric speed sensitive power steering and climate control air conditioning all features that until recently would have only have been found on more luxury cars.

Nissan have certainly succeeded in designing a fresh and youthful Micra that is a million miles away from its predecessor's image as the preserve of middle aged buyers.

The new Micra is a very cute car that deserves to achieve the cult status of such vehicles as the Citroen 2CV, smart model range and the Volkswagen Beetle.

Best of all it's made in Britain!
