Brands Hatch Celebrates Kit Car Industry With Totalkitcar Live!
Published: 17th May 2005
Britain has more kit car manufacturers than the rest of the world put together, and to prove it MotorSport Vision has teamed up with totalkitcar magazine for a unique insight into the industry at Brands Hatch, Kent.
totalkitcar Live! (17 th September) will work on the same format as last year’s hugely successful Race Car Live! (RCL), with kit car manufacturers filling Brands Hatch’s 36 pit garages to offer prospective buyers the chance to sample their fares on the legendary 1.2-mile Indy circuit. Admission costs just £5 per adult. Children aged 12 and under go free.
Indeed, so popular has the uptake been from the kit car industry that more than 47 manufacturers will exhibit and demonstrate their products on the day. Everything from Westfields to Ultima Sports cars will be out on track, while visitors will also be able to browse parts and accessory stands.
To complete a weekend of kit car action, MSV and totalkitcar will also host a kit car track day the following day, Sunday September 18, during which car owners will get the chance to drive on track in their own machines. For a price of £179, participants will get five 15-minute sessions on the famous circuit, and booking will be available through MSV from June 1.
MotorSport Vision Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: “I am delighted to welcome the kit car fraternity to Brands Hatch for the first time, particularly under the enthusiastic and professional auspices of totalkitcar magazine.
“The kit car industry has shown tremendous growth and provides a wonderful opportunity for people to enjoy both the creation and driving of cars with true individualism and performance at a time when so much motoring is becoming devoid of character. It is lovely to see owners justifiably obtain such pride and pleasure from their cars and I am really looking forward to browsing around what I know will be a fascinating array of really affordable automotive engineering and see the cars being proven and enjoyed on the Brands Hatch circuit.”
totalkitcar editor Steve Hole said: “Rather than just look a the cars in a static situation, visitors will be able to actually see them in action on track, and even go for a test drive. Essentially, it means you can compile a shortlist of possible models and sample them all.”
Admission to totalkitcar Live! will be just £5 per adult, with children aged 12 and under free. The event opens at 9am, with on-track sessions all day until 6.30pm.
