Demand for second hand convertibles is showing signs of year-round stability as hard-top coupe cabriolets gain favour with used car customers. Retail customer interest in the convertible market has historically risen for the summer and fallen away in winter but experts at CAP believe this volatility will reduce as buyers are won over by the weatherproof security offered by the new breed of folding hard-top. An unlicensed driver was convicted of a total of 14 offences at Central Devon Magistrates Court on 19th September, one of which related to an incident in which a low loader he was driving became stuck in the road while being used to transport a large house boat. Arriving at the scene in October last year, police officers found a Scania three axle tractor unit driven by Gerrard Hillman, of Lympstone near Exmouth, that had become stuck while towing a two axle low loader semi-trailer and its unlikely load. the full story

On Monday 24th September the provision from the Road Safety Act 2006 to raise the driving licence penalty points from 3 to 6 for the offence of 'failing to identify the driver' becomes active. In the ‘Car Showroom Shake-up’** report from female-friendly insurer, Sheilas’ Wheels, one in five (20) women questioned confessed to pulling out of buying a new car because of offensive comments made by a salesperson or the off-putting showroom environment – potentially resulting in a loss of sales totalling a massive £907 million*** this year.
