ATL's David Findlay Awarded OBE

One of the UK defence and specialist vehicle industry’s leading figures has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list. David Findlay, Managing Director of Automotive Technik Limited, the independent British company which builds the legendary Pinzgauer all-terrain vehicle beloved of Special Forces and the emergency services, is named for services to the defence industry.
David Findlay co-founded Automotive Technik in 1993. In 2000, the company took over worldwide production of the Pinzgauer, relocating the entire manufacturing operation to the UK. It’s largest single customer is the UK Ministry of Defence, for whom it has provided both dedicated specialist vehicles and fulfilled Urgent Operational Requirements (UOR’s) for deployment with British forces in various parts of the world including the Balkans, Afghanistan, Sierre Leone and Iraq. In 2004, the company won major contracts to supply the Light Operational Vehicle requirement for the New Zealand MoD.
David Findlay is a vehicle development engineer whose background includes the design of specialist and all-terrain vehicles - and competitive international rally sport.
