Phantom Rolls-Royce, A Bulletproof Audi And The Latest In Executive Cars And Limousines
Published: 8th July 2007
A stunning Phantom Rolls Royce, the UK debut of a bulletproof Audi, the world’s first right hand drive convertible Chrysler 300 and the most luxurious limousines and executive cars on the market will be on display at this year’s European Limousine and Chauffeur Show. Held at Birmingham’s NEC from Sunday 16th to Tuesday 18th September, the European Limousine and Chauffeur Show will feature the latest models and best selling vehicles from exhibitors such as Audi, Jaguar, Chrysler, Maybach and Bentley.
The Phantom Rolls Royce is the epitome of luxury, built with state of the art BMW technology and 100 years of classic Rolls Royce tradition and with a price tag of around £270,000, a journey in the Phantom is as much of an experience as a form of transportation. Beneath its beautiful exterior is a 6.75 litre light alloy V12 engine that reaches a top speed of around 149 miles per hour. It offers two rear seating configurations, one allowing for informal lounge seating and the other a more formal position with room to house an entertainment system or drinks cabinet. Even the door can be closed remotely at the touch of a button offering greater privacy and sheer elegance.
At the other end of the scale is the new quattro security system featured on the Audi A8 and A6 models which combines speed with comfort. The quattro permanent four wheel drive system translates the engine power output into high levels of forward propulsion and lateral road holding ensuring the car provides outstanding and supremely safe handling. The new A6 4.2 quattro features armour plating, tested and certified by the Munich Weapons Testing Office, that provides protection against mechanical force and shots from hand weapons such as pistols and revolvers up to 0.44 millimetre Magnum calibre. The armour plating on the new A8L W12 offers ballistic protection against hard-core bullets up to 7.62 millimetre calibre. Tests with hand grenades and explosives also proved that the floor plating can also withstand blasts from below.
Also unveiled will be the World’s first right hand drive Chrysler 300 convertible, the only four door convertible available having been specially designed for its owner. With scissor doors, rear head rest DVD monitors, a customised body kit, the car also boasts an electric roof, 3.5 litre engine and 22 inch alloys, at a cost of around £50,000.
The Maybach 62 is one of the most luxurious cars on the executive car market and most expensive at £229,950. With reclining rear seats with leg and footrests, BOSE surround sound system and 19 inch alloy wheels, the Maybach has tipfunction and speedtronic cruise control, a command APS control and display system. It also offers DVD navigation, reading lamps, Parktronic, folding tables, electric curtains and a linguatronic voice-operated control system. Buyers have a choice of grand nappa, nappa, nubuck and alcantra leather and burr walnut, amboyna, or cherry wood trim. It even comes with its own umbrella!
Quirky vehicles such as sexy pink limos with neon interiors for hen nights, high tech limos with 20 televisions, lasers, smoke machines and the latest gadgets and even a casino for the boys will also be on display alongside rare limousines such as the Stretch Chrysler 300 Candy Apple Red Shockwave. The only one of its kind in the UK, the Candy Apple offers disco lights, DVD screens, mini bar and state of the art sound system.
Spanning 4,500 square metres, the Limo Show will also offer chauffeurs, limousine hire companies, and those interested in setting up their own chauffeur or limousine service all the information and advice that they need with informative seminars covering topics such as vehicle standards and registration, chauffeur etiquette and business development. There are also around 50 trade stands selling a wide range of limousine accessories such as state of the art televisions, stereos and cinema systems as well as parts, spares, tools, motoring services and vehicles for sale.
The show also has its own industry awards that are voted for by others in the industry. Categories include Limousine of the Year, Chauffeur of the Year, Operator of the Year and Executive Car of the Year. These awards recognise the contribution made to the industry and are highly sought after by manufacturers and operators alike.
