Hertz NeverLost Launches In Europe
Published: 22nd November 2005
Hertz is launching a unique version of its ground-breaking Hertz NeverLost satellite navigation system across Europe this Autumn. With 11 languages to choose from and seamless cross-border capability, it is ideal for independent travellers who like to know where they are going. The system automatically adjusts volume levels, so it can be heard above traffic or wind noise and has extensive, detailed mapping, a wide, easy-to-use full-colour touch-screen that provides access to turn-by-turn directions to points of interest, simply by touching an icon. A QuickSpell facility helps with unfamiliar names and the multiple search option even allows you to search for hotels by name, or rating, and restaurants by cuisine type.
Michel Taride, President of Hertz Europe, welcomed the move and said: ‘Hertz NeverLost is a name synonymous with satellite navigation systems in the United States, and we have worked hard to develop a system that uses the same ground-breaking technology, but tailored to Europe. With 11 languages and cross-border capacity, all easily accessible in one stylish unit, our customers can be confident that Hertz NeverLost is a truly European solution, designed to take account of the specific needs of travellers in Europe with the additional benefit of being a well-tested and familiar system. An additional benefit of our partnership with Thales is the ability to regularly update the system and to bring new features and benefits to our customers.’
Hertz NeverLost will initially be available to rent at Hertz locations in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK before rolling out to a total of 26 countries during 2006. It can be booked directly from Hertz either on-line, by phone or in person. Hertz #1 Gold Club members can add Hertz NeverLost to their profile from January.
Henry Galliard, Chief Executive Officer of Thales said: ‘For over six years our joint venture with Hertz in the USA has been an unqualified success for Thales, for Hertz and, most importantly, for Hertz customers. We look forward to building on that success by partnering with Hertz in Europe and giving more travellers the opportunity to experience the freedom of a first-class GPS system.’
