H&H Automobilia Sale To Feature 4,000 Models

Published: 6th January 2005

H&H’s automobilia sale at the International Historic Motorsport Show, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire on February 25th, will feature a traffic jam in miniature, as Europe’s largest specialist historic car auction house puts almost 4,000 model cars under the hammer.

The models - from the private Portuguese Queiroz collection - include built and unbuilt die-cast, plastic and metal model kits, 90% of which are ‘mint and boxed’. The collection, which dates from the 1950s onwards, includes a fabulous variety of models from over 150 manufacturers, including: Dinky, Corgi, Airfix, Solido, Lesney, Tootsietoys, Schuco, Revell, Politoys, Polistil, Bburago, Mercury and Gama. All of the models are to be sold without a reserve.

2004 saw H&H Classic Auctions consolidate its position as one of Europe’s leading automobilia auction houses, and the February sale kicks off what H&H believes will be another strong year.

The appointment of automobilia specialist Matthew Kershaw in 2003 allowed the company to develop the size and quality of its collectables sales, with a consequent significant growth in the prices achieved. From regular 250-300 lot sales in 2003, entries grew to such an extent that nearly 700 lots went under the hammer in H&H’s December 2004 auction, achieving a total for that particular sale of over £82,000 (including buyers’ commission at 10%).
