New Walker Exhaust Range Offers 25% Better Corrosion Protection

The Walker Exhaust Range

Walker has consolidated its Aluminox®, Quality Plus Special and Quality Plus premium aftermarket exhausts into a new, single, high-quality range that offers 25% better corrosion protection than other aftermarket exhausts.

The new silencers are manufactured to improved product specifications, with a thicker, 150g aluminium coating on the inner-shell - a significant improvement on the 90-120g standard on most aftermarket exhausts. This thicker coating gives much better resistance to corrosion from acid produced by condensed exhaust gases.

For further quality improvement, all parts and components feature long-lasting austenitic stainless steel welding inside and outside, utilising the same quality welding wire that is used on OE exhaust components.

“Most aftermarket exhausts currently available feature mild steel welds,” said Frank Plas, Emission Control product manager of Tenneco Automotive, producers of Walker/ Fonos and Gillet exhausts.

“Once the paint covering burns off - which happens soon after the exhaust is installed on a vehicle - those welds can corrode and that corrosion spreads through the exhaust. Stainless steel welds prevent this corrosion, even on the areas next to the welds - which are usually most sensitive to breakage.”

Tenneco Automotive produces one in every four complete exhausts world-wide and its exhaust products are included on many of the major new car model programmes globally.

Walker is the world's largest producer of vehicle emission systems and components for the aftermarket sectors. Gillet is renowned worldwide for the research, development and design of technically innovative exhaust systems for the original equipment market like diesel particulate filters. The company works closely with almost every European car manufacturer and also specialises in sound-engineering for brands including Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Less SKU’s, Equal Coverage

Consolidating the three previous premium exhaust ranges into one has implications for the Walker/Fonos SKU (stock keeping unit) numbers. 242 part numbers with overlapping quality will be consolidated into one new Walker/Fonos number, streamlining identification for installers. Vehicle coverage will not be reduced by this consolidation - Walker’s new top-quality durable exhaust systems and components are available for virtually every passenger vehicle application.

The new Walker range will be supported by attractive POS material, which includes a poster, brochure and an advertising campaign.

Tenneco Automotive is a $3.8 billion manufacturing company with headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois (USA), and approximately 19,200 employees worldwide. Tenneco Automotive is one of the world's largest producers and marketers of ride control and exhaust system products, which are sold under the Monroeâ and Walkerâ global brand names.
