Driving Standard Agency (DSA) Enfield

Published: 10th September 2007

Greater London’s first driving multi-purpose test centre, in Enfield, opens today in a bid by the Driving Standard Agency (DSA) to improve road safety. The Enfield centre is one of a national network being developed by DSA as a road safety initiative to cut biking accidents. It will cater for the new motorcycle test due to be introduced in 2008 which will include challenging manoeuvres to test riders’ control over their bikes.

DSA Chief executive, Rosemary Thew said; “In 2004 alone 25,641 bikers were involved in accidents; 585 were fatal. Although accident numbers are falling there are still far too many, which is why the DSA’s new centres are so important.

“The new centres are key to road safety and fit into our overall vision of ‘Safe driving for life’. We hope that local communities will recognise the important role of the centres in supporting road safety.”

The new centre is located at Solar Way, Innova Park Business Centre, Enfiled, EN3 7PA. Car and bike tests will be conducted from the new centre. Information about DSA multi-purpose test centres can be found on www.dsa.gov.uk/mptc
