Love At First Ride

Published: 20th May 2005

A set of hot wheels isn’t always the fastest route to a potential partner’s heart when on a first date, according to results of an NOP World survey commissioned by www.eBayMotors.co.uk.

Men wanting to win girls’ hearts can get into pole position behind the wheel of a luxury sports car - preferably a Mercedes or BMW. But, surprisingly, women drive men crazy when they turn up in a reliable run-around.

"First impressions are everything and this survey proves the key to your car could be the key to someone’s heart," said Charlie Coney, spokesperson for eBayMotors.

The survey, released today, found men don’t need to be impressed when it comes to their potential partner’s car, preferring practicality and performance to a hefty price tag - a blue Ford being among their top choices!

Meanwhile, women look for a man with a car that’s sporty and sophisticated – citing a silver Mercedes-Benz or BMW as their desired carriage for a hot date and a white van as the ultimate romance killer.

Other major turn-offs for both men and women include:

  • Cars containing the remains of last night’s takeaway
  • Vehicles festooned with tacky fluffy dice
  • Motors ‘souped-up’ with boy racer modifications

Coney continued; "Whether it’s a £90,000 BMW previously owned by David Beckham or a £200 Fiat Panda recently bought for Sandra Howard, eBayMotors.co.uk has a wide range of vehicles and accessories, including fluffy dice, to cater for everyone’s desires.

"With a vehicle being sold every couple of minutes and an audience of over 10 million, it’s clear eBayMotors.co.uk is one of the quickest and cheapest ways to buy or sell a vehicle."
