Avis helps Atkins reduce rental costs and focus on the environment
Avis Rent a Car has extended its relationship with project management group Atkins plc for a third year. Avis supplies over 6,000 management vehicles, replacement cars and spot hire vehicles annually for the consultancy and support service provider.
Avis was originally awarded the contract by winning a competitive tender over other strong contenders such as Hertz and National.
Avis has invested much time exploring the Atkins ethos and has really got under its skin to provide cost saving initiatives, thus demonstrating its long term commitment to Atkins. One such initiative has seen Avis and Atkins together enforce a car group restriction on all cars hired. Every vehicle rental is restricted to C group cars such as a Renault Megane, Peugot 206 or Ford Focus. Since inception Avis has helped Atkins achieve a 97% success rate on this company policy.
Avis and Atkins are both companies that share an environmental focus. Avis is a partner of Future Forests, a specialist company that helps other businesses quantify their global warming contribution through the amount of carbon dioxide they produce. Avis’ head office fleet is now carbon neutral with trees planted to offset the carbon emissions from each car, Avis customers can also choose to make their own rental carbon neutral. Atkins is committed to supporting Avis in these efforts and consequently all Atkins’ rental vehicles are automatically added to the Future Forest scheme.
Dan Powell, Category Manager, Atkins plc comments "Choosing the right car rental provider meant we were looking for a company that not only understood our business rationale but would enhance it, a company that was also environmentally responsible and would of course deliver great customer service. Avis was a clear winner.
Avis’ commitment to Atkins has been plain in its cost saving ideas, environmental support and natural partnership style making it the perfect choice."
Paul Russell, Avis Rent a Car, explains "We are delighted to be Atkins’ rental company of choice again this year. We have matched its culture, personality and environmental responsibility and have achieved real cost reduction results.
We enjoy a strong relationship with Atkins and hope to continue to do so in the future."
Established in 1938 and with a turnover of £1.2bn, Atkins is the largest multi-discipline consultancy in Europe. Atkins employs over 14,000 staff with offices around the world and has been named as one of The Sunday Times’ UK’s 10 Best Big Companies to Work For, 2005.
