  • Alamo Urges Renters to Share the Driving this Autumn - And Consider Sunday for Long Journeys
With plans for Autumn Half-Term already underway, Alamo, the UK’s leading car rental company is urging customers to think about sharing the driving when renting for long trips and to carefully consider the day they travel to reach their destination. Alamo’s figures reveal that Sunday is the safest day to drive, with just 6% of damage to vehicles occurring on this day.

Kim Brown, Marketing Director for Alamo in the UK comments: “The safety of our customers is important to us, so we always urge customers to drive carefully and consider sharing the driving. Up to 5 named drivers can appear on the rental agreement at just £2.95 each per day, making it extremely cost-effective to share the driving, particularly on long distance trips.”

Alamo’s figures show 19% of vehicle damage occurs on Wednesdays, making it the most likely day for accidents. And, whilst nearly 40% of damage to vehicles is blamed on other drivers, 10% is caused by stationary objects such as property, walls, fences and bollards. Surprisingly, 1300 diesel vehicles were filled with petrol in 2004!

Kim Brown continues, “Fortunately the vast majority of damage is minor but we certainly see more accidents on a Wednesday than on a Sunday. The best advice Alamo can give is don’t drive tired.”

Alamo is offering 3 days for 2 this Autumn with unlimited mileage.
