Aixam Mega Helps Business Bloom
Published: 19th January 2005
When Tara Winslet decided to establish her retail florist outlet in Dunstable, she knew that keeping costs to a minimum was essential to ensuring that her business could remain competitive with established competitors.
One key cost to any florist business is the delivery of flower arrangements and bouquets to clients. Tara Winslet chose the 479cc diesel Mega delivery van as a unique solution to her needs. Not only was it affordable and economical, but it also attracted a lot of attention for the new business.
Parked outside the flower shop the distinctive, floral liveried Mega constantly draws the attention of passers by and doubles as a mobile advert for Tara’s Flowers as it makes deliveries around Dunstable and the surrounding area.
Partner, Peter Winslet says, "The Mega is very economical to run and operating locally around Dunstable there is rarely any need to exceed 30mph, so the Mega is ideal for the local work we do. We can fill the 24 litre tank and run for 300 miles before needing to refill - equivalent to 56 miles to the gallon (5L/100kM).
"The Mega’s constantly variable transmission is the ideal solution to stop-go urban traffic congestion. It reduces wear and tear on the vehicle and lowers stress levels for the driver."
Peter Leivers, General Manager of Aixam Mega UK Ltd, says, "We are delighted to have been able to supply the Mega delivery van to Tara’s Flowers. This is exactly the type of operation the Mega is designed for. It has a friendly image that appeals to the business user and their customer alike."
The Mega delivery van is a lightweight, low cost, low maintenance vehicle with all the carrying capacity required by a small local operation, and was supplied to Tara’s Flowers by local dealer Henley Heritage.
