Turtle Wax - 'Put the Magic Back'

New research reveals that blokes feel happier, more self-confident and in control when they are behind the wheel of their car.

A quarter of men confessed their car was their favourite possession and one in seven said it was a case of love at first sight.

And the same number of men again told researchers they even prefer to spend time behind the wheel of their car than with their wife, girlfriend or kids.

The study by leading car care experts Turtle Wax also discovered that four out of ten women feel confident and sexy behind the wheel and one in seven said they enjoy their car more than their man.

A third of females also insisted they feel more powerful and in control when they are in the driving seat.

However four out of ten men do not love their motor and a similar number insisted they fell out of love within 12 months of purchasing.

One in ten male drivers now feel either embarrassed or depressed by the car they drive and a fifth say they have turned their attentions to a younger model.

While a quarter of men also insisted they would like to trade their own girlfriend or wife in for a younger model too.

And more than one in ten men (12%) admitted they want a new car simply because their friend, neighbour or colleague had bought one.

The study, which surveyed 1,500 motorists across the UK, was commissioned by Turtle Wax as part of its Color Magic™ ‘Put the Magic Back’ campaign, which aims to encourage car owners to reignite their relationship with their cars and show them some love.

Speaking about the results, Vicky Jones, operational marketing manager for Turtle Wax, said: “A car may be an inanimate object but our research shows the depth and range of real life emotions they inspire among drivers.

“Owners have real relationships with their cars and sometimes, like in all relationships, cracks can start to appear and the shine can begin to fade or come off completely after a period of time and our research shows this is the case with cars.

“So there are clearly lots of car owners who need a little help in putting the spark back into their relationship with their motor.

“Through our ongoing ‘Put the Magic Back’ campaign we hope to make motorists aware of simple and inexpensive ways they can learn to love their car again, thanks to a little Turtle Wax TLC.”
